TradingView Indicators

Best indicators for US30.
Built for Dow moves.

US30 does not behave like gold or Nasdaq. The Dow is slower, more blue-chip, more industrial, and often cleaner when a real trend gets underway. This guide covers the indicator settings that fit Dow Jones price action, the US30Signals Pine Script stack, and installation on TradingView, MT4, and MT5.

Why standard indicators fail on US30

US30 is not a volatility toy. It moves with US equity cash flow, but it usually trends in a slower and cleaner way than NAS100. A Dow signal often builds through industrials, financials, healthcare, and consumer blue chips rather than one or two mega-cap tech names dragging the whole index.

Standard MACD and moving averages are less broken on US30 than they are on gold. Default trend tools can catch Dow continuation because the index often respects moving-average structure during cash-session trends. RSI overbought can also persist longer in strong Dow advances.

The bigger problem on US30 is false breakdowns. The Dow often dips below a range, flushes weak hands, and then reclaims the level during cash hours. Bollinger squeeze patterns are especially fragile when the market is waiting on Fed speakers, industrial earnings, or broad risk sentiment.

The fix is instrument-specific calibration. US30Signals does not add random indicators until the chart looks busy. It changes the settings, filters weak sessions, adjusts stops for the real volatility regime, and only plots signals when the market structure fits US30.

Signal stack

US30Signals custom indicator stack

US30Signals uses four filters instead of one indicator trigger. US30 needs a stack that knows when the market is active, what volatility regime it is in, and whether momentum is supported by the instrument's real behaviour.

Layer 1

Trend structure

20/50 EMA direction and slope define the active Dow bias. Signals avoid fighting a clean cash-session trend unless reversal evidence is strong.

Layer 2

Cash-hours confirmation

The stack prioritises 09:30 to 16:00 ET because Dow liquidity and institutional flow are clearest during the US equity session.

Layer 3

RSI persistence filter

RSI is read for trend persistence, not just overbought or oversold tags. Strong Dow trends can hold elevated RSI longer than traders expect.

Layer 4

False-breakdown control

ATR, candle close location, and level reclaim logic reduce signals on weak Bollinger squeeze breaks and stop-run breakdowns.

When all four layers align, the indicator plots the entry, an instrument-adjusted stop-loss, and TP1, TP2, and TP3. The signal is selective by design: trend, timing, momentum, and volatility must agree before the chart marks a trade.

Backtest

Backtest vs standard indicators

US30 H1, January to June 2026 backtest. The custom stack benefits from cleaner Dow trend behaviour while filtering false breakdowns and weak range breaks. Standard indicators perform better than on more erratic markets, but still give back too much through poor reward-to-risk.

Top indicators

Top 5 TradingView indicators with US30-specific settings

The standard numbers below are not useless. They are generic. US30 needs settings that reflect its session rhythm, volatility, and catalyst profile.

IndicatorWhat it measuresStandard settingsUS30-specific settingsBest used for
Moving AveragesTrend direction50/200 SMA20/50 EMA with slope filterFollowing clean Dow cash-session trends
MACDTrend confirmation12/26/912/26/9 plus session and EMA agreementUsing default trend logic only when structure supports it
RSIMomentum persistence70/3075/35 in strong trendsAvoiding early shorts in persistent blue-chip rallies
Bollinger BandsRange expansion20, 220, 2.2 with reclaim filterReducing false squeeze breakdown trades
ATRStop sizing1412 with lower-volatility multipliersKeeping stops tighter than Nasdaq or gold without choking normal Dow movement

US30 rewards patience more than speed. EMAs and MACD deserve a larger role because Dow trends can remain orderly. The danger is assuming every range break is real. The custom settings wait for cash-hours confirmation, check whether price holds the break, and size stops for the Dow lower-volatility profile.

Platform choice

Platform comparison

TradingView is the cleanest place to research and visualise the full indicator stack. MT4 remains practical for broker execution and familiar discretionary workflows. MT5 is stronger when testing depth, newer architecture, and multi-asset workflows matter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are the best TradingView indicators for US30 trading?+

The best US30 indicators are EMAs, MACD, RSI, ATR, and Bollinger Bands when tuned for Dow cash-session behaviour.

Do moving averages work well on the Dow?+

Moving averages are more reliable on US30 than on many faster instruments because Dow trends often respect structure during US cash hours.

Why does RSI overbought persist on US30?+

A strong Dow trend can keep RSI elevated while price grinds higher, so RSI is context rather than an automatic short signal.

Why do Bollinger squeeze patterns fail on US30?+

US30 often creates false breakdowns before reclaiming a range. A squeeze break needs close confirmation and trend agreement.

What session matters most for US30?+

The US cash session from 09:30 to 16:00 ET matters most because sector confirmation is clearest when US equities are open.

Are default MACD settings usable on US30?+

They can be usable, but US30Signals keeps MACD tied to EMA direction, cash-session timing, and false-break filters.

Can I install it on TradingView mobile?+

Yes. After invite-only script access is added, the indicator can be viewed on mobile charts.

Can I use the same indicator on MT4 and MT5?+

The logic can be matched, but MT4 uses .ex4, MT5 uses .ex5, and TradingView uses Pine Script.

What timeframe works best?+

H1 is the main confirmation timeframe because it is slow enough to filter noise and responsive enough for US cash-session trends.

Do US30Signals indicators repaint?+

Live candles can change before confirmation, but final plotted signals are designed not to repaint after confirmation.
